The club was founded in 1971, born out of the Werribee Cricket Association. It boasts an impressive and interesting history. The club played its first two seasons in the VJCA, enjoying success, and after joining the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association (VSDCA) in 1973, we have played in this competition ever since. The VSDCA consists of 32 clubs, playing cricket across the Melbourne metropolitan area. During this time, the club has won 32 premierships, including six in the first grade.
Australian Test player and former national selector Merv Hughes started his cricket career at Werribee CC, as did Victorian Bushranger Travis Dean. The club has helped produce many quality players including former South Australia Redbacks and Australia A player Daniel Worrall and Victorian Under 19 representative Shaun Dean. Many Werribee CC players have progressed to Premier Cricket ranks as well.
The club plays regular cricket between October and March at both Chirnside Park (1sts and 2nds) and Soldiers Reserve (3rds and 4ths) in Werribee, on Saturdays and some Sundays. The club also enters a team in the Twenty20 Twilight league run the by the VSDCA on Tuesday Nights.
Introduced in the 2021/2022 season, the club fielded their first women’s side, competing in the NWMCA Girls Cricket competition. In their first ever season, they won our inaugural women’s premiership, winning the NWMCA Womens Social T20 Division 3 competition.
We have also boasted an impressive 4 club championships in the VSDCA, which sits equal 2nd in the history of the competition.
With the support of members and sponsors, the club now aims to write a whole new chapter in its history.
